Michael graduated from Madison Memorial High School in Madison, WI. In 1974. He began his career Swift Premium Meats working there from 1974-1978. In 1978 Mike joined Casey’s General Stores Inc. as a field operations supervisor. He continued with Casey’s serving as a store supervisor, District manager, Advertising Director and Vice President of Marketing and Advertising. Mike retired in 2019.
Mike’s activities outside of work have included working in various capacities with the cities and charities where has lived. From 2008 to 2010 Mike served on the Pleasant Hill Parks and Recreation Committee, was voted Citizen of the Year in 2009 by the Pleasant Hill Iowa Chamber of Commerce and was elected Mayor of Pleasant Hill, IA in 2011 where he served until 2014.
Mike currently serves as Board Vice-Chair for Keep Iowa Beautiful and as a Board Member for Unity Point Charitable giving Trust Fund.
Mike and his wife Patty continue to enjoy living in Pleasant Hill and have three wonderful children and five grandchildren and plans to continue to stay involved with the community as plans to fish and golf as much as time allows.
