As yard work begins, it’s important to keep in mind that blowing or leaving grass clippings and other debris in the street during yard maintenance is hard on the storm sewer system, looks bad, and is illegal. The City considers the act of leaving yard trimmings and similar material in the street a municipal code violation. Read more

Small actions make a big difference when it comes to preventing a burglary; its important homeowners take the appropriate actions to protect themselves, family, and their property.
A few safety tips from the Pleasant Hill Police Department include: - Don’t leave your garage door open.
- Don’t leave the garage door remote in your vehicle.
- Never tell someone or post on social media that you are leaving.
- Look out for your neighbors.

Construction has begun on the NE 75th Street traffic signal. On Wednesday, April 20, the signal will be 4-way stop starting around mid-morning and lasting a few hours, the signal will be fully operational again by 2:00 pm. Advanced warning flashers will remain in operation. Read more

The Springtime Hill Climb will take place on Saturday, April 16. To ensure the safety of the runners and walkers, NE 12th Street from Hickory Boulevard to NE 52nd Court will be temporarily close from 7:30 to 10 am. This closure is to allow for walkers and runners to get through the intersections safely during the Springtime Hill Climb. Read more

We encourage you to attend a planning workshop and provide your input on water trails and greenways. Water trails are today where bike trails were 20 years ago – a great idea with great potential, if we get enough of the right people in the same direction. Serving on a board or commission is one way members of the community can volunteer and get involved in their city government. Their activities help shape and influence public policy, but some also hear appeals, provide expertise, advocate, receive public concerns, or establish, review, and enforce policies and regulations. Appointments to Pleasant Hill city boards and commissions are made by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.
There will be vacancies on the following city boards and commission, beginning July 1, 2016. Applications will be accepted through May 30, 2016. To indicate your interest in serving on a board or commission please complete an application form and return it to City Hall at 5160 Maple Drive, Pleasant Hill, IA 50327.
