Prominent Metro developer sets his sights east to redevelop Pleasant Hill’s largest community priority. Christensen Development, notorious for unique projects that revitalize neighborhoods will leave his mark on Pleasant Hill’s East University Avenue corridor by transforming a former waterpark into endless possibilities for restaurants, retail, offices, and more.
“Residents’ top desire is the revitalization of Pleasant Hill’s most visible corridor,” said Sara Kurovski, Mayor of Pleasant Hill. “We spent time intentionally planning through the City’s Comprehensive Plan and now it is time to start acting on those plans with the perfect partner in Christensen Development.”
Christensen Development is purchasing 5401 East University Avenue and will add restaurants and retail to Pleasant Hill. Already, they have received interest from businesses, though the campaign to attract additional businesses begins now.
“We have been so impressed with the engagement from the City and citizens on this effort,” said Jake Christensen, President of Christensen Development. “We look forward to working to help transform this site into a mix of uses that add to the offerings in Pleasant Hill.”
A high-quality multifamily building is currently being proposed by Sand Development LLC. “Sand is excited to collaborate with the City of Pleasant Hill to further its goal of creating diverse housing options with the development of Vive, a 49-unit high-quality workforce housing community,” Megan Sand Carr, Senior Business Development Manager for Sand Development LLC.
The City will be setting a public hearing to consider a development agreement at the January 23rd City Council meeting. The public hearing will take place at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, February 13th.
