Violation of No Contact Order Leads to Arrest
PLEASANT HILL, Iowa – June 26, 2017 – On Friday, June 23 at 6:02 p.m., the Pleasant Hill Police Department received a 911 call to 1250 NE 56th Street for a domestic incident. Upon the arrival of the responding officer, he observed a male fitting the description of the alleged perpetrator. As the Officer approached Juan Carlos Martinez, a male 27 years of age, he began to walk away from the Officer.

UPDATE: Person Has Been Identified and Arrested
PLEASANT HILL, Iowa – September 28, 2016 – On the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 28, Pleasant Hill Police were investigating a citizen’s call regarding individuals breaking into vehicles in a Pleasant Hill neighborhood. When officers approached the subjects they ran. After relocating one of the individuals that ran, the officer inquired and found a change of clothing in his backpack and stolen property. The individual was identified as a juvenile male, was questioned, charged and later released.

In-Home Daycare Charged with Child Endangerment
PLEASANT HILL, Iowa – September 22, 2016 – The Pleasant Hill Police Department completed an investigation on a licensed in-home daycare provider. The original report involved a child who was taken to the hospital by her mother with bite injuries. Following the investigation, charges were filed on Cindy Marie Holt, age 49 and Amanda Mae Holt, age 23.

City Council Approves FY 2017 Budget

New Complete Streets policy commits to designing streets for all users
PLEASANT HILL, IA (March 16, 2016) – The City of Pleasant Hill is proud to announce the adoption of a Complete Streets Policy to support roadway design that accommodates all transportation modes and users. This policy is meant to enable economic growth, regional competitiveness, and active lifestyles, while providing improvements to existing roadways and redevelopments throughout our community. In November 2015, the City of Pleasant Hill adopted an updated Comprehensive Plan that included recommendations to explore a Complete Streets policy. The City continues to review and implement the Comprehensive Plan recommendations when appropriate.

Phone Scam Alert
PLEASANT HILL, Iowa – February 19, 2016 – The Pleasant Hill Police Department has been made aware of a phone scam involving a male caller who identifies himself as an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agent. According to the reporter, the male caller demands money from the victim or threatens the victim with arrest. The perpetrator instructs the victim to deposit money in an account to avoid arrest charges by the IRS.

Grand Prize Winners of the 2015 Summer Reading Program Announced
PLEASANT HILL, Iowa – August 14, 2015 – The Pleasant Hill Public Library presented $50 gift cards to the grand prize winners after completion of the summer reading program. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate Copper Creek Theatre Upgrades

Kids are Finding Lost Gold in Pleasant Hill City Parks

Each week, one City park will contain five yellow nuggets and only one golden nugget. The hunt for gold includes parks within the City of Pleasant Hill Doanes, Dar Mar, Oak Hill, Sunrise, Copper Creek Lake, and Sunset.

Court of Appeals Affirms Ruling in Favor of the City of Pleasant Hill

In Home Daycare Charged with Child Abuse
PLEASANT HILL, Iowa – May 20, 2015 – The Pleasant Hill Police Department received a child abuse complaint about Christina Williamson, a non-registered in home daycare provider. Surveillance footage from the home was reviewed and the Police Department identified three victims whose families have been notified.

City of Pleasant Hill and Altoona Announce Fair Housing Accessibility Training
PLEASANT HILL, Iowa – April 29, 2015 – The City of Pleasant Hill’s Community Development Department and the City of Altoona’s Building Department are helping to bring the Fair Housing Accessibility Training to Prairie Meadows in Altoona. The training will educate developers and builders and provide them with the information needed to support those with disabilities under the Fair Housing Act.

City of Pleasant Hill to Observe Arbor Day on April 24
PLEASANT HILL, Iowa – April 20, 2015 – Mayor Sara Kurovski has proclaimed Friday, April 24 to be Arbor Day in the City of Pleasant Hill. The City urges citizens to participate in tree planting and maintenance programs to ensure a more beautiful Iowa and to nurture, protect, and wisely use Iowa’s natural wonder of trees. In celebration of Arbor Day, the City is seeking volunteers to help with the Earth Day Trash Bash event to clean up the area near Fourmile Creek.
