City of Pleasant Hill construction and traffic control projects
The City offers these helpful reminders in dealing with construction projects in Pleasant Hill:
- Please observe posted detour and/or warning signs
- Stay alert
- Watch for signs, equipment, and workers
- Minimize distractions such as using cell phones, eating or drinking
- Avoid tailgating
- Follow posted speed limits
- Stay in one lane while driving through a work zone
Infrastructure projects
Pleasant Hill Blvd./East Oakwood Dr. IntersectionDescription: At the intersect of Pleasant Hill Blvd and East Oakwood Dr. (by Pleasant Hill Elementary), the contractor will be repairing broken control joints throughout this intersection along with installing pedestrian islands providing for safer pedestrian crossing.
Status: The contract was awarded at the City Council meeting on April 11.
Cost: The estimated contract is $241,115.
Timeline: Construction will begin June 1st with an estimated completion date of July 2017.

Description: SE 43rd St. from Vandalia Rd. to the south end will get a Hot Mix Asphalt overlay with some full depth patching.
Status: This project is still in the design phase.
Cost: The estimated contract is $770,300.00. Since this is a shared street with Des Moines the cost will be split 50/50.
Timeline: Construction is estimated to begin late summer 2017.

Description: Woodland Dr. will be between Capitol View Dr. and SE 55th St.this will be a complete street build.
Status: This project is still in the design phase.
Cost: The project is estimated to be around $529,000.
Timeline: Construction is estimated to start later this summer or early fall.

NE 70th St. Reconstruction
Description: 70th St. south of East University Ave. to Rising Sun Dr. will be reconstructed adding an intersection and a roundabout.
Status: This project is still in the design phase.
Cost: The project is estimated to be around $3,760,000.
Timeline: Construction is estimated to start late summer/fall 2017.

- This will be done throughout the community, but areas that need immediate attention will be done first.
- Each of these patching projects will be weather dependent and little notice will be given to residents in the area. Certain sections of the community may notice repair projects taking two weeks, depending on the need.
