The Summer Reading Program is open to all ages, and sign up begins on June 1. Participants keep track of the amount of time they read (whether it's newspapers, textbooks, eBooks, audio books, or reading aloud to a child). The amount of time varies depending on the age of the participant.
Completed reading logs will be entered into a drawing for many fabulous prizes! Prize drawings will be held in August.
The goal of the Summer Reading Program is to encourage our patrons to visit the library, read, and participate in our great events throughout the summer! The Summer Reading Program also helps prevent the "summer slide," when children can lose up to two months of reading and math skills during summer break. Plus, when parents or caregivers and children read together it's a great bonding experience and counts toward both of your Summer Reading tallies!
We look forward to seeing you this summer! Don't forget to stop in after June 1 to sign up, and make sure to check out all of the fun events happening at your library this summer.
